DALLAS BAPTIST UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS

The Patriot Cheerleaders were busy during the month of April, serving almost every week. On April 10, the team went to Randol Mill Park in Arlington, Texas, to serve as a “buddy” in the Miracle League for disabled children. The Miracle League is an organization designed to provide the opportunity for all children to play baseball regardless of their ability or disability. The cheerleaders met many great kids and some of their friends and were able to serve in a way that took them away from the court, brought them out of their comfort zone, and gave them an experience they will never forget.

The next week, the girls spent the day at Kinekeade Elementary. They performed two pep rallies for the children in honor of the “Week of the Young Child.” All of the children enjoyed getting to see the cheerleaders perform. They watched in awe of the girls’ enthusiasm for the sport and life in general. The cheerleaders were able to visit a classroom of their choice and spend some time with the children as they participated in centers. It was a great opportunity to partner with Kinekeade and the cheerleaders look forward to future events with the school.

Hyman Elementary, another school that has previously partnered with the Patriot Cheerleaders, asked the team to return again this year to get its students ready for the TAKS test with a spirit rally before the big testing day. The cheerleaders performed numerous cheers while many of the children joined in. Each grade gave their cheers to help their classmates along during the test.

“It is great to see partnerships growing with local organizations and education centers as we serve the community. As the Patriot Cheerleaders conclude another year, I only hope we can continue these partnerships in the years to come,” said Patriot Cheer Coach Skyla Alvarado.
